You can find out about puppets, and how to make them. There are many kinds of puppet and they are usually sculpted or modelled, from the simple to the complex.

A puppet may be operated directly by a puppeteer, or indirectly - by the use of strings or by other mechanical contrivance - even remotely by electronics. Puppets can even be worn in costume. Puppets may also be animated with stop motion animation. Possibly all of these techniques were employed in Frank Oz's Little Shop Of Horrors (1986).

Mechanics of Movement

You can control a puppet in many ways, and combine the methods to good effect. for example, it was common on the muppet show to use one hand to control the mouth and head movements directly, while the other hand of the puppeteer could move the rods to control the arms. Eyes may be opened and closed by pulling strings in the inside of the head.

I have been involved with puppetry for many years and also have experience of writing websites. I was thinking of starting my own puppet pages so I first did a search and found this one. I thought to myself ‘there is no need to compete so perhaps I’d better join you’. However as you cannot be bothered to return here and add new content or answer others who offer to help you, I am left with no option but move on. It is a shame because this promised to be such a good site.
